Supermoto Saturday / NASS rider highlight episode 3

Supermoto Saturday! This week let's talk about #80 Brady Tausan. He's from Rapid City South Dakota and he's 23 years old. He started riding at 5 on a Yamaha PW50. He raced mostly flat track as a young kid growing up. Placed 3rd overall in amateur grand national flat track series on a 65. At 11 years old he raced his first supermoto race at the Stateline supermoto challenge on a KX 65. That's when he knew supermoto was for him and only got faster from there. He raced the lights class in ama supermoto with a number of podiums just narrowly missing first place overall in the series multiple times. He now races open pro and finishes in the top 5 more often than not. His Dad, Bret Tausan has always been his biggest supporter. Getting him to the races, working on bikes, coaching, keeping him motivated and working overtime or a second job just to pay for it all. Dads are the real MVP more often than not. Dad always made Brady "race up" and never put him in the easy class. Often racing people that where twice his age with twice the experience. This built a kid into a hardened racer. Brady is one of the toughest competitors you'll come across. He loves tight and close racing. The tightest and closest in your face racing is where he really shines. He doesn't have a local track to practice on, so he sets up traffic cones at his local county fairgrounds parking lot just to stay sharp. Growing up the rider he looked up to the most was Chris Bruse a local legend to Brady. His favorite supermoto rider is the one and only Dustin Hoffman. Brady's favorite thing about supermoto is "backing it into turns". Backing it in, is when a rider slides into turns on asphalt often sliding at over 80 mph to help slow down faster to make the turn. It's impressive to see and there's no feeling like it. When not at the track Brady likes to ride off-road and hard Enduro in the black hills near his home. He's qualified for the North American Supermoto Shootout and you'll get the chance to meet him in Norman Oklahoma on October 28 at OMC raceway. If anyone has stories they would like to share about Brady please do in the comments!
