Supermoto Saturday / NASS rider highlight Episode 1
Hey everyone. I'm starting something new this week to show recognition to the guys who have been dedicating their lives to racing Supermoto. They often travel all over the country just to race their motorcycles on the weekends. They do it knowing they won't win enough money to even cover gas in the rigs to make it there. Let alone the motel cost, food, race entries, bike prep and maintenance. It's a costly venture yet they stay dedicated to the sport they love. They deserve more for the efforts they put in! I'm starting a Venmo in order for fans like myself and others to help add to the purse for the upcoming North American Supermoto Shootout that will be held in Norman OK in October. If we come together we have the chance to make it really worth their time! Donate if you'd like, share this post if you can! I will personally match the first $250 donated to Venmo @NASSPURSE. Any amount is appreciated! I will be highlighting a new rider each weekend until the shootout on October 28th. So stay tuned!!!
We'll start this week's rider highlight with everyone's favorite rider. Sean Butterman AKA Butters!!
Sean Butterman is from Rio Rancho NM and is 33 years old. Started racing at the age 6 at his local motocross track that his dad would take him to. Later at the age of 13 he tried road racing for the first time on a honda rs125 and took to it naturally. Sometime in 2003 he was introduced to Supermoto and he fell in love with it. It was a perfect balance of moto and road racing but more fun than both. He turned pro in 2007 and would go on to win the AMA supermoto 250 lites championship in 2014 which led to a prestigious ride with Joe Agley and his RSR built bikes for the last 8 years racing the open pro class, the fastest supermoto class North America has to offer. He has had many ups and downs along the way. 10 surgeries, multiple broken bones to a national win on the streets of Sturgis, arguably the hardest track at the time in 2015 against an absolutely stacked grid. He's a tough competitor on the track but one of the friendliest people off the track. Let's all thank Butters for his dedication to this thing we call supermoto.
